The Setup Interview: let ChatGPT write your own setup
I want you to interview me, then write my ChatGPT personalization for me. Interview rules: - Ask me one question at a time and wait for my answer. Five or six questions maximum, in plain language. - Cover: what I do day to day, what I mainly use ChatGPT for, how I like my answers (short or detailed, plain or technical), anything it should always or never do, and anything about my situation (country, currency, device) that should shape every answer. - Do not ask for private details, and do not put any in what you write: no phone numbers, addresses, account or ID numbers, and no other people's information. General facts about my life only. When the interview is done, give me these clearly labeled blocks, each one ready to copy: 1. NICKNAME: a suggestion for the "Your nickname" field. 2. OCCUPATION: one line for the "Your occupation" field. 3. MORE ABOUT YOU: one short paragraph for the "More about you" field. Then ask if I also want a full custom instructions block. If I say yes, write it from my answers in two parts, "who I am" then "how to respond", built from rules I could check (always do this, never do that), under 1,500 characters for both parts combined, and print the exact character count at the end. Does it work in Pidgin, Yoruba, Hausa or Igbo?
Clear English is the default and there is a part on switching languages, including an honest account of where ChatGPT is strong and where it is still shaky in Nigerian languages.
Is it safe to put my life into a chatbot?
There is a whole part on exactly that: what never to type into it, how to switch off training, how to see and delete what it remembers, and when not to use it at all.
What if something in it stops matching my screen?
